Czech Republic holds over 25,000 kilometres of rivers and thousands of reservoirs. Each body of water falls under a regulated fishing district with its own rules, seasonal limits, and dominant species.

Species
Different river systems host different dominant species. Understanding the habitat preferences and seasonal behaviour of each species is part of planning any fishing trip in Czech Republic.
The most widely fished species in Czech Republic, present in virtually all lowland reservoirs and slower river stretches. Carp fishing season runs from 16 June to 31 December on most waters, with bag limits set per district permit.
Districts →A predator found throughout Czech rivers and reservoirs. Pike season typically opens on 1 June and closes at the end of January. They favour shallow weedy margins of reservoirs and the slower backwaters of larger rivers like the Labe and Vltava.
Techniques →Native to the fast, cold, oxygen-rich streams of Šumava, Krkonoše, and the Jeseníky highlands. Trout water classifications carry the most restrictive regulations — catch-and-release is standard on many designated salmonid stretches.
Conservation →All sport fishing in Czech Republic is governed by Act No. 99/2004 Coll. on fisheries. The Czech Fishing Union (Český rybářský svaz) administers the district system and issues territorial fishing permits.
